Life Update February 17, 2023

Mitchell McClosky / Comment on this

Hello there,

Time's funny. It's not a tangible thing yet the more of it that is lost the less of it we inevitably have and the more valuable it becomes.

Honestly, I wanted to write to you because I regret not taking the time to build a stronger connection with my audience. I would like to be able to share my experiences not only through art and photography but through stories and thoughts as I go about my day to day life. To those who find an interest in such things of course.

I want to go briefly over a few things I deem important in the recent past, present and future. If you follow me on social media you likely know that I love painting and photographing the things that inspire me most. And that's wildlife of course. About a year ago, December of 2021 I moved to Wyoming after living all my life in Washington state. Why? Because I fell in love with Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park for the immense beauty of the landscapes and the great variety of wildlife that live in its mountainous terrain. It was and is something unique and special that I haven't experienced anywhere else.

I have had many memorable experiences spending time in nature whether it be in solitude or with others since I have moved to Jackson Hole. Right away I chose to get myself involved as much as I could and found myself working alongside multiple non-profits. I started working at Jackson Hole Art Auction in the spring of 2022 after working as a ski lift operator at Snow King Mountain over the winter. Currently I am the full-time art handler (the guy wearing many hats) at Jackson Hole Art Auction. I love my work family there and feel lucky to have this job as I pursue my artistic career.

There is so much to learn as an emerging artist, and things don't happen immediately. And I am reminded about that time and time again. I'm currently getting prepared to show with Legends West this March in Great Falls, Montana. I'm looking forward to it and can't wait to see my artist friends there! Oh, I should also mention that if you're in the area on March 2nd, the Whodunnit? sale will be taking place at the Center for the Arts. They've got a nice display there and a lot of artists participating in the event. I created a small 6x6 inch painting, and I'm not telling you which one it is (you'll have to guess). Buy a painting and support the Art Association!

There's a lot to be thankful for and I am happy to be alive today and living in such a beautiful and inspiring place. Thank you for taking a little bit of your time out of your day to read through this. I will be back soon... Probably.

All the best,

Mitchell
